Shinkansen in JapanNo more 18 degrees - but still cool
The Shinkansen is indeed ever booked to 200 percent, you have to sweat but never there.
Previously was cooled, Japan abandoned Vorzeigezug even at 18 degrees - which has one save energy. And even in the S-Bahn, it is almost always cool.

All seven or eight minutes in the rush hour a Shinkansen leaving Tokyo towards Kyoto / Osaka. The whole country is crisscrossed by a network for these super-fast trains. They were the epitome of Japan's economic resurgence and are still an example of the sophisticated and above all reliable technology. Because there is little margin - certainly not with the air conditioner. Summer temperatures of over 35 are not uncommon in Japan, and so is the aircon, the air conditioning to the standards in houses, cars and trains.
From energy saving reasons, no longer 18 degrees
is still rainy season in Japan and it is at 30 degrees oppressively humid - but only as long as you are staying outside. Who got on the Shinkansen, you need not take off his jacket. The temperatures will save energy, no longer cool to 18 degrees down, but it's still pleasantly fresh in the trains, the seats can be reserved until shortly before departure. Only the peak travel season, the trains are sometimes up to 200 percent occupied, but in this case the air conditioner is something turned up.
This also applies to the underground and suburban trains in Tokyo. Who am with the mass moves to the center, which can only hope not to come directly under the cold air flow to a halt. Those who travel at other times, has as many women in Tokyo precaution while a light switch, which you can sleep in the cool of the procession at the shoulders.
